Anyone have an early airplane and need an AVT-15 for it? I recently acquired a pair of -15’s that were offered up before being striped and salvaged. One unit is headed for Gerry Asher’s project and the other is still available. It’s going to need some sheet metal work to make one or more of the covers, but the front panel appears to be complete.
I’ve got zero dollars into obtaining these and am passing them along the same way. If you are in the DFW area, free pickup, otherwise, a reimbursement for the shipping, please.
I should have the units in hand sometime within the next week or so. I’ll get some photos when they show up.

Craig-
I’ll take the remaining AVT-15 for my L-2. I see Gerry several times monthly send both to him or I can meet you in the Ft. Worth area for pickup.
Thanks!

Craig-
I’ll take the remaining AVT-15 for my L-2 unless another L-5 owner wants it. I see Gerry several times monthly send both to him or I can meet you in the Ft. Worth area for pickup.
Thanks!

Charles: I’ll take it over to the hangar with Gerry’s once they come in. They came from a fellow ham operator that restores lots of older military gear, and he decided that these two were not going to go on his bench due to time and project pile-ups. They have the potential for being restored to operational, but he has so much other stuff waiting on bench time, the decision was made to cull these from that list.

Any chance there is one still available for our L-5?

Dan,
That’s the incorrect transmitter for your L-5. You need the AVT-112. Only the first 275 aircraft used the AVT-115. You also need the AVR-20A receiver and AVA-126 power supply. Those were the basic three for every L-5 from 76-277 through 76-3476.
JG
p.s. for those wondering about 76-276, that # was skipped since that airframe was used for destructive testing

Don: I’ll have to do a little digging in my radio stash. I may have a spare BC-1206, and AVR-20 and AVT-112, if you don’t have them. I think I’ve only got one AVA-126 though. The antenna reels are almost unobtanium these days, but I was able to borrow a good repo and start making a set of prints.
I’m going to put one of my kids to work, creating the drawings for the AVA-10/53 crystals for the AVT-112 and make some via 3d printing. I’ve got a few originals and they weigh something like a half pound each. That’s 5 pounds in the crystal rack…..

Charles: radios are in. I’m going to unbox them this morning and take them over to the hangar. Tried to run them by last weekend, but everyone was gone.
