The Stinson Model 75B, a tandem-seat conversion of the Model HW-75 / 105 Voyager was the first prototype for the design that eventually became the L-5 Sentinel. Today is ostensibly the 81st anniversary of it’s maiden flight on June 19, 1940. That is what many books and websites have published, at least. However, Stinson Chief Pilot Al Schramm wrote in his self-published autobiography (a very rare soft-cover book) that the flight took place on June 29th, and the CAA certificate of registration shows the date of manufacture as July 1, 1940, which further confuses the issue. I have been searching for years hoping to find documented proof of the date of the first flight without success. If anyone out there has some insight into this, please let me know.
