Here’s a copy of a photo of BuNo 03963 being auctioned on eBay by a prolific seller in England who has multiple auction accounts and constantly has L-5 photos for sale. DON’T BUY IT.

Why? Because the seller copies public domain photos from the National Archives and other archival sources and sells them in violation of non-commercial restrictions on their use. I will never support or condone that behavior, no matter how inexpensive the item might be. It’s a matter of principle. The seller currently goes by the user names Steamystuff4u and madusjockus.
Besides not supporting such unscrupulous individuals, much better quality originals can be copied for your own use from the source. Why pay for the washed-out, reduced quality photo above, when you can get this one for free?

This airplane belonged to Marine Observation Squadron 5 (VMO-5) and the photo was taken at Sasebo, Japan in October, 1945. This copy comes from the San Diego Air Museum. Right-clicking and screen-printing is disabled on this website, so if you would like a full-resolution copy to print for your digital collection, let me know. JG
