Wanted to pass on to anyone that is planning on filling their crystal holder for the AVA series radios, that you need to find either AVA-10 or AVA-53 crystals rather than the more common FT-243’s. The holder is drilled for the .850″ leg spacing for the large bodies, while the FT-243 has .485″ leg spacing. I don’t have the leg spacing data for the VC2 or the MI-8412 crystals. The AVT-112 transmitters take either size, but apparently Stinson never updated the holders to deal with the smaller crystals.
