I was looking at my spare O-435-1 and it has a vertical airscoop baffle on the front 2 cylinders and my L5 engine does not. I checked the parts manual and it is listed as Baffle Assembly-vertical. My question, was it discontinued on later models or do I need to put it on my aircraft.
It is used on all models John and you should have it installed. The O-435 needs all the help it can get for proper airflow and cooling. One of the big problems during development was cooling and every bit of that baffling is important, particularly item #7, the vertical front “scoop” .
