We have found that when replacing the F-1 fuel selector, soak it in avgas for a day. The cork is over 80 years old and may or may not leak. I have seen new F-1’s leak after installation. The Spring 2003 SOPA newsletter shows a fix by using o-rings and an internal plate to prevent leakage. I had this mod done for my G model and haven’t had a leak.

This is great historical information and appreciate you taking time to analyze the data during the Holiday Season. It seems hard to believe that 80 years ago (December 1944) less than 2000 Liaison pilots of all services were stationed overseas doing an overwhelming job with aircraft with no armament nor armor protection.

We are also searching for the 4 light switchbox, I have a 3 light box on hand. The switchbox bracket is still in the L-5. Also would like to purchase or borrow for a template the bottom panel that the 3 lights fit into. Shouldn’t be hard to fabricate.

They are used on the horizontal tail, wings, and front door. In the Parts Manual, go to the Numerical Parts Listing and search for W1481032. In my 1949 IPS, shows figures 5,14, and 3. Manufacturer was Boots.

While at AirVenture 2024, Bill Tromblay mentioned he can chrome the inside of brake master cylinders back to standard size. Prevents future corrosion and pitting. May have mine done later this year.
