Matt: Here are photos of mine. You will have to mount the connectors a little different, as the original has an “L” shaped cover. The connectors are mounted on the side leg of the “L”. The AN3106-12S-3S plugs and mating sockets are available from Mouser, et al., but going to be very hard to find in the silver color. The AN3054-3 and -4 nuts for the single wire terminal and the 3106 backshell are also out there, but hard to find.
Shoot me a direct email and I’ll send you the photos. I can’t seem to make them attach here.
Craig.

I wonder if some of the graphite/inconel braided cord could be used, with just a tapered overlay for a splice.
Just found out that AirCorps’ parts side of the house has the GJ-1 jacks available now.
No new options that I know of, without changing the assembly. Did find part of an assembly with a bulb for sale though:

Matt: The one I linked should work fine. From the photos, yours is a standard 1/4″ mono jack. I suspect that these were added as an afterthought, as I can’t find them in the IPB for any version of the L-5. If there is some info on them, it would have to be on the 32201 or 32231 drawings.
When I tore mine down, it had different jacks on each side, so I suspect that whatever was available at the time was what got used.
Should be a standard 1/4″ , open frame mono jack.
Should be close enough:

Matt: 76-01003, Note 3 calls for Arabic numbers and letters, with a reference to Spec 98-24105. I suspect that if you selected an Arabic Bold san serif, you would be close enough. I’ve got the cover from a wing that was done in the early 50’s as a spare part. I’ll look this weekend and see if I can find it packed away in the warehouse.
Matt: Did some more chasing on stuff. Verify the OAT that you have is a C-13A. The A makes a big difference as the threaded section is longer and is for mounting on structure up to 1″ thick.
Per the b/p, the change occurred at 42-98797…L-5 C/N 761.

Matt: It installs behind the front spar. Look at Figure 9 of the Flight Handbook and reference drawings 76-61000 and 76-32200, page 3, Zones 3 and 4, there is a note to drill the 2nd hole to .375/.380. That should line up correctly behind the front spar.

A quick bit to help on doing photos for color matching….Specify the color temp of the lighting that you are using. That helps correct the color from what is seen on a monitor or photo.
Daylight is above 5000K
Cool white is 3100 to 4000K
Warm white is under 3000K
The cooler the color temp, the more yellowish the light is and that will change the color appearance.
BTW, I did find a copy of the DuPont specification book, listing the various DuPont color numbers for zinc chromate for prior to August 1943. Just need to figure out how to translate them to usable info.

John: At the bottom left of the posting window, below the Tags window, there is a check box that is labeled “Notify me….” If you check that box, on your initial post, I think it should give you an email for every post after that. Same if you are not the original poster, but adding content to a thread.

Bill: Got that info and have been trying to track down anything on the R-79 vibrator. I’ve had no luck thru all my normal sources. I may have to actually open up the one in my unit and figure out the internals on it. It’s a 7 pin unit with multiple possible pinouts.

Bill: I’m slowly working on a set of drawings and going to see if Sam will do a redline check against his known original one. The one I was making measurements off of, was a replica and had some obvious issues. Most are easy to correct, but one is requiring some hardware chasing that may force some changes with other parts.
I’ve got a photo of the lower mast entry fitting with some dimensions and will have that drawing with the package. Sean has had some upper mast fittings made, but wasn’t sure if he had any left. I dropped him an email a while back, but have not had a response yet. I’m having some connection troubles with my primary email client, and am having to send them thru a secondary method.
Bill: Power supply is on the table behind my desk. I’ll see if I can get some decent photos when I get up.

With some chasing of the F4RP12/B, it specs out as an AN3125-1, which now crosses to a F5000 bulb. Running all three numbers down, they’re pretty rare, but there are some on shelves in a couple of locations. I’m a little nervous about dropping notes for quotes on them, but that’s for next weeks chasing. The only place that had pricing on them, was 10$ each, and that was from more than 10 years ago.
